Toru Yano, Togi Makabe and Tomoaki Honma were guides through weekend NJPW Together broadcasts

The NJPW Together project is continuing to bring new content to fans throughout March, even in the wake of events cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

After Hiromu Takahashi and Tetsuya Naito started the season of live programming off with a unique two hour journey that set a high bar for what was to follow, it was Toru Yano next on the schedule… Or Toru Yano and friends to be more accurate.

Yano traded corner pad for blackboard eraser as he took charge of CHAOS Academy for a two hour live special. In Yano’s class was SHO, YOH and Tomohiro Ishii as they went through a carefully designed curriculum. Calligraphy had the crew write a message to bring energy to the world (SHO: Everyone, together! Ishii: NJPW World YOH: Korean barbecue every day). PE saw a mini New Japan Cup contested under thumb wrestling rules, while Homeroom saw the class take fan questions.

The most important lesson on the timetable was e-commerce, where the cast had to promote Toru Yano produced merchandise in a bid to drive his sales up (what else?). This entire curriculum was then rushed through in crash course style by YOSHI-HASHI, who showed up stylishly late to class.

On March 8, Togi Makabe and Tomoaki Honma took over for a special life advice corner. Fans across Japan sent in their questions to the GBH pair, who comfortably offered sage advice to students looking for help motivating themselves to study, athletes looking for advice in overcoming injury and more besides.

There were even some more unconventional requests, including from a ‘H.Takahashi’ asking if he needed a change in ring name, or an ‘R.Taguchi’ explaining his apparent distaste for dirty jokes. Thankfully to keep Makabe and Honma’s energy up, sweets were provided!

NJPW Together continues with live broadcasts on March 12 with the Golden☆Ace team of Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kota Ibushi, and March 14 with a special live edition of Ryusuke Taguchi’s ‘Monthly 6.9’. Plus there’ll be more never before released archive matches to enjoy!

(Schedule subject to change. English subtitled video will follow live broadcasts. Some NJPW Together content may only be available in Japanese. Thank you for your patience and understanding).
